On this page of our Tipps to The Medium, you’ll find a walkthrough for the 9th stage of the game, On the other side of the mirror. We have described all the interactions you need to perform to get the bolt cutters. Your main task is to examine specific items. However, you can perform some minor interactions that will help you understand the plot and increase the immersion.

Bernard
This sequence will begin when you go through the first mirror. You will reach the spirit world. You can change it freely. Keep in mind, however, that every now and then the monster may appear and try to kill you.
You can immediately run up the stairs and then go further into the first floor.
You will quickly reach Bernard. You must free his soul from suffering.
Use insight to make this task easier. This will highlight the tracks you are supposed to follow.
You will find yourself at a crossroads. First, you need to examine the wall right next to the entrance.
Your next task is to enter the section on the right. There you will find a source of energy. Remember, you are safe here. So you can take a break and get the energy you need for your next task.
After collecting energy, you can go to the area on the left. However, remember that you must first open it using the razor.
Before entering, activate the spirit shield. There are a lot of moths in this room – they will attack you as soon as you get closer.
After getting rid of the moths, you can approach the tree. It has the mask you need.
Put the mask in your inventory and go back to Bernard. Put the mask on him to free his soul.
After freeing Bernard’s soul, you will get a black cat figurine. Take it with you – this item is necessary for the next tasks after you get out of the maze of mirrors.
More souls
After freeing Bernard, return to the room where the energy was. There you will also find a mirror through which you can pass to the other side, to the normal world.
However, we have some not-so-good news for you. Once you reach the world of the living, the monster will start chasing you. Try not to get in his way or make any loud noises.
Hide behind the crate and hold your breath. You have to make sure that the heroine does not make any moves that will draw the monster’s attention. If you wait long enough, the opponent will hit the door and give you the opportunity to move on.
As you walk along, you can look through the bars. Right behind them, you will see the bolt cutters you need to continue the story.
When you go through the next mirror, you will see two bodies that need redemption. Your task is to find masks and information about the dead to free their souls.
Nicholas
To save Nicholas‘ soul, turn left. You can use insight to lighten your path.
Climb to the very top using the stairs and jumping to higher levels.
When you turn right, you will see the man’s mask. Put it in your inventory, otherwise, you won’t be able to free Nicholas‘ soul.
After taking the mask, another passage will open up for you. Go inside and use the next mirror, which will take you to a conference room. There you will find information about the man you must rescue.
In the conference room, you’ll find some small items that can come in very handy, mainly for getting the achievements.

In the hall, you need to check the list and the chairs. After a thorough inspection of the room, you will discover the name – Nicholas. With this information, you will be able to return to the corpse and release the soul.
After gathering information, the monster will appear. Hold your breath and continue moving like this until the danger is gone.
After getting all the important items, go back to Nicholas and put the mask on his face. His soul will be released – you can focus on the second story.
Tori
It’s time for the other tormented soul. Activate the insight and head to the mirror – it will take you to the next part of the hotel.
You need to explore the area right next to the trashcan. There are keys lying there. You can use them to open the door leading to the next part of the hotel.
Open the door with the key and head straight ahead. Keep going until you reach another mirror.
When you get to the other world, you have to slide on a narrow piece of floor. You don’t have to be careful – this time your character will get to the other side without any bruises or falls.
You will again be attacked by the monster. Stand in the corner and hold your breath to avoid sudden death.
Don’t wait too long for the monster to react. It will walk in circles, blocking the path. Simply draw air into your lungs and slowly move forward, avoiding sudden movements and hitting objects on the way.
When you reach the ballerina’s room, examine the items on her bed and on the table right next to it.
You can also check the hole in the wall to discover a second room.
Use the mirror to move to the spiritual version of the area. There you will find a very important object without which you cannot release the soul of the deceased.
You will find a mask. Take it – you need it to free Tori’s soul.
Once you get the mask, you can move to the regular world to gather the rest of the information you need.
A paper from a notebook is under the bed – you need it to solve this puzzle.
Place the piece of paper in the notebook you found on the cabinet next to the bed. Look at the number and listen to the conversation to get important information.
To get the whole picture, look at the desk. You will find a bracelet with names on it. By listening to the story, you will understand the relationship between the women.
After getting the information and the mask, you must return to the woman’s body. If this path seems complicated to you, use insight. You have to go through several mirrors to get to the destination.
Bolt cutters
Once the souls are released, you are practically done with this sequence. You just have to go back to the normal world and check out more areas of the hotel.
You will eventually reach the bolt cutters. Pick them up, you need them for future objectives.
